| About my class |
I have been teaching for 13 years, with all of
those years in first grade, except for two. Since
so many different cultures are represented in our
classroom, we like to compare and contrast a lot
of what we learn with other cultures. For example,
during the winter, we learned about a several different
winter holidays, since there are students in our
class who celebrate Ramadan, Hanukkah, and Las
Posadas. Besides those holidays, we learned about
Diwali and Chinese New Year.
My students need a lot of hands on experiences to assist in their
learning. This is for two reasons: one, younger children need concrete
examples before they can move on to the abstract; two, I'm teaching
several second language learners and having the hands on experience
helps them better understand exactly what we are talking about.
We would appreciate any type of donation you can make to our classroom
from our list. Thanks very much for taking the time to read about
me and my students! |
